It all started a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…in Indiana.
My parents worked two jobs to make ends meet when I was growing up so I was left to entertain myself most days. Luckily, I developed an active imagination so the woods and parking lots around our house became mysterious lands to explore.
That active imagination followed me into Middle school and High school where I spent many hours filling notebooks with short angsty stories and daydreaming out of tall metal windows.
I got married and graduated high school (yes, in that order) and started a photography business…but I never stopped writing.
I used writing as a form of therapy. It was easier to put complicated feelings down on a page — and attribute them to a character — than sit down with a therapist. Also, dang, mental health care is expensive and I just didn’t have the money for it.
Photographing weddings became a little dangerous in 2020 and I ended up getting the OG strain of Covid before a vacine was available and my body didn’t bounce back as much as I’d hoped. So, I made the hard decision to retire from wedding photography and switch to something a little more kind to my body.
I learned the value of diversifying my income streams and got serious about writing with aims to publish.
I had my flagship book available on Kindle for a while and it did okay but I didn’t really have the time or money to properly advertise. Then I posted to Vella for a while and made some money there until they decided that it wasn’t profitable (for them) and killed the program. And since then, I’ve gotten more and more disenfranchised with Billionaires who take, take, take without giving back so I decided to pull my work from the Zon and go fully independent!
You can purchase my writing from my store and 100% of the profits will go to me so that I can continue to support my family instead of JB’s seventh yacht.
