DOES CAT HUMES USE Ai?

The simple answer? Yes.

I totally understand if you choose to click away without reading further.

WHY DOES CAT HUMES USE Ai?

Emerging technologies is one of my Special Interests.

I entered the workforce as a wedding photographer just as the digital takeover was becoming the norm — which meant there were a lot of grumpy film photographers very upset that photography just got WAY easier (see: lazier) and I was born and raised in a Midwest factory town so I am in a unique position to see this environment differently than most people.

I also entered the workforce at the very beginning of the 2008 economic downturn.

I consider myself a prepper.

Particularly, a financial prepper.

I put an emphasis and learning and diversifying my knowledge and skillsets. That includes using Ai.

Nothing is guaranteed; being able to pivot and change with the tides has kept me afloat for three decades as a self employed creative.

DOES CAT HUMES THINK Ai IS EVIL?

Yes.

So is Late Stage Capitalism.

So is paying taxes to governments who sell bombs that harm children.

So is using a smart phone built by labor that isn’t appropriately paid and / or respected.

If The Good Place taught me anything, its living in an unjust world makes us all complicit.

WHAT DOES CAT HUMES THINK ABOUT ARGUMENTS AGAINST USING Ai.

All arguments for NOT using Ai are valid. If you don’t want to use it or support those who do, I totally understand. You will find no ill feelings here if you choose to patronize a 100% handmade creative.

That being said…

I view Ai similarly to the automotive industry that shaped my environment (Central Indiana / Michigan) and the industrial revolution that shaped a large part of US history.

It was a time of upheaval and uncertainty. …and as predictable as time… Corporations and the Billionaires of their time sent us off fighting each other instead of organizing for better wages and better environmental protections. Its a tale as old as time.

They need us more than we need them. They need our labor. They need our land. They need our resources. Please, for the love of all things Holy, stop fighting on the internet and start going to city council meetings. Vote.

Vote.

Vote.

Vote.

Do I need to say it again?

Indiana’s voting percentage is like 13% because “it doesn’t make a difference”. Well, if 100% of us voted than maybe the politicians who are easily paid off by Billionaires wouldn’t be in power.

In case it wasn’t obvious—History, Government, and Politics is also one of my Special Interests.

WHAT DOES CAT HUMES MAKE USING Ai.

*** First of all, I only use Ai to do jobs I would have been doing myself anyway. I do not have — nor have I ever had — the kind of money to pay for editors and professional digital artists. If that ever changes, you best believe I will pay a human. ***

I use Ai to:

-remove clutter and virtually stage real estate photography

-make desktop wallpaper images that encourage my will to live

-edit and create images for my fiction novels

-fill out seo and keywording for product listings and social posts

WHAT DOES CAT HUMES THINK ABOUT Ai THEFT.

Ai companies absolutely stole the art and data of the entire world to train it’s product.

Ai companies absolutely have the money and recourses to compensate artists and trades people for the knowledge they stole.

Its much, much, much cheaper for the Ai companies to pay off politicians and government officials than pay for the data and intellectual property they stole.

Vote.

Forget Democrat vs Republican.

Who is fighting for The People and who is fighting for The Corporations?

Vote for the people who are more interested in the concerns of the people than money. You may find that one of the big parties falls on the side of the people more often than not…but once you start paying attention you’ll find that many politicians on both sides vote in favor of corporations and other humanitarian ills that We The People really should not be funding.

They count on your apathy.

They count on your cynicism.

They count on our collective exhaustion.

It’s up to US to keep fighting.
